Coach Pierre had the pleasure of being selected as a coach for Chris Paul's Camp, a high-profile basketball camp at helping develop youth talent. During the three-day camp, Coach Pierre worked with 6th to 8th grade boys from across the country. He partnered with other coaches to run through drills highlighting the fundamentals of basketball and coached various teams, ending the weekend with only one lost! The camp was a wonderful opportunity to learn from other great coaches, and train young athletes seeking to get better. Coach Pierre is immensely grateful to the Paul family for the opportunity.
Coach Pierre's key takeaways from the camp, include being aware of oneself, never delay gratitude, and success leaves clues. Moreover, Coach Pierre really liked how the camp stressed the importance of team work and working with others to achieve a common goal, as these are pillars of DBLP basketball.
Also, the camp hosted workshops for parents to attend as a way to help them support their student athletes. The major lessons imparted on parents, included the five most important words a parent can tell their child after a game - I love watching you play. Coach Pierre thoroughly enjoyed his time at camp and learned many valuable lessons. As he looks to help further develop the young athletes at DBLP basketball - on and off the court - Coach Pierre will lean on the many lessons learned at Chris Paul's camp.
